Volunteers' Week - A Focus On Our Befriending Service
By Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind
This Volunteers' Week we're celebrating our volunteers and the many ways in which they enable us to do what we do.
Our Befriending and Telephone Service was set up to support those people in the local community who were struggling to cope with loneliness and isolation during the pandemic.
To date we've helped over 100 of the most vulnerable people locally and we continue to provide support today. The service could not reach and help as many people as it does without the help of our volunteers.
They make such a valuable difference to the lives of those people we are supporting.
Sinead Murphy, the service coordinator, thanks the Befriending volunteers, and Andrea, one of the volunteers, explains what it means to be a volunteer and the contribution she makes.
