All of our counsellors are well trained. They will offer you a supportive environment where you can talk openly about how you feel. Your counsellor will help you to explore your difficulties and help you to see things more clearly. You can easily access this service by phone, email, in-person, or by referral from another agency or from your GP.
You are asked to contribute towards the cost of your counselling. The current minimum charge is £5 per session if you are unemployed or £10 if you are waged. These contributions will be discussed with your counsellor during your initial assessment. There will also be a one-off registration fee of £5, which is payable at the initial assessment.
Anger Management
Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind has been delivering its anger management programme for more than eight years.
The aim of the programme is to provide information about how we become angry, the effects it has on us, and to teach people the skills they need to manage their anger differently. We work in a structured way using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy principles.
The programme is delivered through six one-to-one sessions with a trained counsellor or practitioner. The cost for this programme is £150 for six sessions, including a free initial assessment to ensure suitability. Appointments are available weekdays and evenings in central Middlesbrough.
Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind offers free and confidential psychological therapies as part of the Tees Time to Talk service throughout Teesside.
This service is primarily for people experiencing depression and/or anxiety.
If your difficulties have not been diagnosed by your GP, or you are not sure if this service is right for you, please do contact us and we will see if we can help.
The service is provided on a one-to-one basis, but some group sessions may also become available.
We will work with you face-to-face, by telephone and by email, depending on what is appropriate for you.
Following an initial assessment, you will be provided with up to 6 sessions of support.
You will work with the same worker for each of your weekly sessions.
We can also organise for an interpreter to be present at the sessions if you feel this would be helpful.
During the sessions our worker will help you to look at ways you can cope by using the skills that you already have and also by exploring new techniques that can provide different ways of coping.
We may ask you to practice these techniques outside of the sessions so you are confident you can use them on your own in the future. Throughout the time you work with us, we will keep a check of the good effect the work is having, so that you can see the improvements you are making.
How can I get the service?
This is easy to do.
You can:
Ring the Tees Time to Talk service on 01642 221910
Ask you GP to make a referral to us.
We will then arrange a time to telephone or meet up with you.
